In 2023, shipments abroad of birds eggs decreased by -6.7% to 324K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 15%. The exports peaked at 563K tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (209K tons) was the main destination for birds egg exports from the Netherlands, accounting for a 65% share of total exports.
