Netherlands Cereal, Fruit or Nut Chocolate Bar Import Price in February 2023
In February 2023, the cereal, fruit or nut chocolate bar price amounted to $6,314 per ton (CIF, Netherlands), with an increase of 2.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 11% against the previous month. The import price peaked in February 2023.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the UK ($7,783 per ton) and Switzerland ($7,642 per ton), while the price for Bosnia and Herzegovina ($5,508 per ton) and Belgium ($5,844 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In February 2023, overseas purchases of chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts decreased by -6.9% to 2.7K tons, falling for the third consecutive month after four months of growth. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 21% month-to-month.
In value terms, imports of chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts contracted to $17M (IndexBox estimates) in February 2023. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 with an increase of 20% month-to-month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $20M. From December 2022 to February 2023, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.
Netherlands Cereal, Fruit or Nut Chocolate Bar Imports by Country
Germany (1.1K tons), Belgium (839 tons) and the UK (302 tons) were the main suppliers of imports of chocolate bars with cereals, fruit or nuts to the Netherlands, with a combined 81% share of total imports. Poland, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the biggest increases were in Croatia (with a CAGR of +31.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest cereal, fruit or nut chocolate bar suppliers to the Netherlands were Germany ($6.4M), Belgium ($4.9M) and the UK ($2.3M), with a combined 80% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Poland, Switzerland, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which together accounted for a further 13%.
Croatia, with a CAGR of +28.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
