Netherlands Crispbread Import Price in April 2023
In April 2023, the crispbread price amounted to $3,404 per ton (CIF, Netherlands), with an increase of 3.2% against the previous month. Over the period from April 2022 to April 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 11% m-o-m. The import price peaked in April 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In April 2023, the country with the highest price was Romania ($3,950 per ton), while the price for the UK ($2,586 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Netherlands Crispbread Imports
In April 2023, approximately 896 tons of crispbread were imported into the Netherlands; which is down by -25% compared with March 2023 figures. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when imports increased by 48% month-to-month.
In value terms, crispbread imports contracted significantly to $3M (IndexBox estimates) in April 2023. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a slight expansion from April 2022 to April 2023: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on April 2023 figures, imports increased by +20.5% against February 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 with an increase of 56% month-to-month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $3.9M, and then fell remarkably in the following month.
Netherlands Crispbread Imports by Country
In April 2023, Germany (546 tons) constituted the largest supplier of crispbread to the Netherlands, with a 61% share of total imports. Moreover, crispbread imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Sweden (194 tons), threefold. Belgium (61 tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.8% share.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany totaled +1.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Sweden (-0.0% per month) and Belgium (-3.5% per month).
In value terms, Germany ($2M) constituted the largest supplier of crispbread to the Netherlands, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sweden ($555K), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 5.2% share.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value from Germany stood at +4.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Sweden (+0.7% per month) and Belgium (-3.8% per month).
