Ether Price in the Netherlands Shrinks Notably to $1,148 per Ton

Netherlands Ether Export Price in March 2023

In March 2023, the ether price stood at $1,148 per ton (FOB, Netherlands), reducing by -12.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 55% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,725 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to March 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($1,434 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($840 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (-0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Netherlands Ether Exports

In March 2023, approximately 132K tons of ethers were exported from the Netherlands; rising by 52% on the previous month. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 when exports increased by 87% m-o-m.

In value terms, ether exports skyrocketed to $151M (IndexBox estimates) in March 2023. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 with an increase of 102% against the previous month.

Netherlands Ether Exports by Country

Singapore (38K tons), Spain (24K tons) and Germany (21K tons) were the main destinations of ether exports from the Netherlands, with a combined 63% share of total exports.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the biggest increases were in Singapore (with a CAGR of +27.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Singapore ($32M), Germany ($30M) and Spain ($25M) constituted the largest markets for ether exported from the Netherlands worldwide, with a combined 57% share of total exports.

Singapore, with a CAGR of +22.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
