Netherlands Fig Import Price in April 2023
In April 2023, the fig price amounted to $5,562 per ton (CIF, Netherlands), jumping by 15% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a mild increase from April 2022 to April 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on April 2023 figures, fig import price increased by +15.3% against March 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 29% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,639 per ton. From January 2023 to April 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In April 2023, the country with the highest price was Peru ($6,738 per ton), while the price for Austria ($2,338 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Netherlands Fig Imports
In April 2023, approximately 231 tons of figs were imported into the Netherlands; shrinking by -20.7% on March 2023 figures. In general, imports recorded a perceptible descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 with an increase of 489% month-to-month.
In value terms, fig imports shrank to $1.3M (IndexBox estimates) in April 2023. Over the period under review, imports saw a slight setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 when imports increased by 341% month-to-month.
Netherlands Fig Imports by Country
Brazil (106 tons), Turkey (83 tons) and Peru (21 tons) were the main suppliers of fig imports to the Netherlands, together comprising 91% of total imports. These countries were followed by Austria, Germany and Spain, which together accounted for a further 7.4%.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the biggest increases were in Austria (with a CAGR of +64.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest fig suppliers to the Netherlands were Brazil ($610K), Turkey ($443K) and Peru ($141K), together accounting for 93% of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, Austria and Spain, which together accounted for a further 4.9%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Austria, with a CAGR of +52.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
