Netherlands Grape Must Import Price in November 2022
In November 2022, the grape must price amounted to $4.0 per litre (CIF, Netherlands), rising by 93% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a pronounced shrinkage. The import price peaked at $8.3 per litre in December 2021; however, from January 2022 to November 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2022, the country with the highest price was Italy ($7.7 per litre), while the price for Portugal ($852 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2021 to November 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Netherlands Grape Must Imports
In November 2022, after two months of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of grape must, when their volume decreased by -16.8% to 116K litres. Overall, imports, however, posted a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 with an increase of 772% month-to-month. Imports peaked at 139K litres in October 2022, and then contracted notably in the following month.
In value terms, grape must imports skyrocketed to $460K (IndexBox estimates) in November 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2022 when imports increased by 1,084% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 498K litres in November 2021; afterwards, it flattened through to November 2022.
Netherlands Grape Must Imports by Country
In November 2022, Italy (47K litres) constituted the largest supplier of grape must to the Netherlands, with a 41% share of total imports. Moreover, grape must imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (18K litres), threefold. Germany (17K litres) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 15% share.
From November 2021 to November 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from Italy amounted to -1.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Poland (+54.3% per month) and Germany (+53.8% per month).
In value terms, Italy ($361K) constituted the largest supplier of grape must to the Netherlands, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($39K), with an 8.6% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 3.6% share.
From November 2021 to November 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from Italy was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Belgium (+2.5% per month) and France (-13.1% per month).
