Netherlands Passenger Car Tyre Import Price in January 2023
In January 2023, the passenger car tyre price amounted to $58.7 per unit (CIF, Netherlands), declining by -2.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 6% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $62,557 per thousand units. From December 2022 to January 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($125 per unit), while the price for India ($33.7 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Netherlands Passenger Car Tyre Imports
After two months of decline, supplies from abroad of tyres for motor cars increased by 11% to 2.7M units in January 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a mild curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 when imports increased by 33% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 4M units in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to January 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, passenger car tyre imports rose sharply to $161M (IndexBox estimates) in January 2023. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 30% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at 224M units in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to January 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.
Netherlands Passenger Car Tyre Imports by Country
China (675K units), Germany (419K units) and Hungary (369K units) were the main suppliers of passenger car tyre imports to the Netherlands, with a combined 53% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, South Korea, India, Italy, Thailand, Turkey, France and Japan, which together accounted for a further 34%.
From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +10.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest passenger car tyre suppliers to the Netherlands were Germany ($28M), China ($24M) and Belgium ($22M), with a combined 46% share of total imports. Hungary, South Korea, Italy, France, Turkey, India, Thailand and Japan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.
Thailand, with a CAGR of +8.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
