The Netherlands's Raspberry and Blackberry Price Grows 3%, Averaging $12.5 per kg

Netherlands Raspberry And Blackberry Export Price in March 2023

In March 2023, the raspberry and blackberry price amounted to $12,513 per ton (FOB, Netherlands), rising by 2.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 39% against the previous month. The export price peaked in March 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In March 2023, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($16,788 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($9,675 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ireland (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Netherlands Raspberry And Blackberry Exports

After three months of decline, shipments abroad of raspberries and blackberries increased by 32% to 1.6K tons in March 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when exports increased by 34% month-to-month.

In value terms, raspberry and blackberry exports surged to $20M (IndexBox estimates) in March 2023. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.

Netherlands Raspberry And Blackberry Exports by Country

Germany (491 tons) was the main destination for raspberry and blackberry exports from the Netherlands, accounting for a 31% share of total exports. Moreover, raspberry and blackberry exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belgium (206 tons), twofold. Poland (201 tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 13% share.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany totaled +3.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Belgium (+2.3% per month) and Poland (+1.4% per month).

In value terms, Germany ($5.6M) remains the key foreign market for raspberry and blackberry exports from the Netherlands, comprising 28% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($2.4M), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 12% share.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value to Germany amounted to +3.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Poland (+2.5% per month) and Belgium (+1.5% per month).
