Perenti's Barminco Secures A$120 Million Contract for Goldrush Project

Australia's Perenti (ASX: PRN) has marked its entry into the North American mining sector with a significant achievement. According to a report by Mining.com, Perenti's underground mining subsidiary, Barminco, secured a A$120 million contract to carry out underground development and ground support at the Goldrush project in Nevada. The Goldrush project, part of Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) — the largest gold-producing complex globally — aims to achieve a production rate of approximately 400,000 ounces annually by 2028, with a life expectancy of 24 years.

This contract is not only a testament to Barminco's growing footprint in the global mining industry but also represents its first major project in the United States. Mark Norwell, the managing director and CEO of Perenti, expressed pride in the North American team's achievement and emphasized the strategic importance of the expansion into North America. He acknowledged that the experience shared by Swick, another Perenti business with operations in the US since 2009, was instrumental in securing the contract.

Gabrielle Iwanow, president of contract mining at Perenti, hailed the contract win as a "milestone achievement" for Barminco, underlining its growth strategy. The Goldrush project's span is set for 36 months, marking a significant move for Barminco, which primarily operates in Western Australia and Africa.
