Poland Baby Food Exports
In August 2023, overseas shipments of food preparations for infants decreased by -27.6% to 3.7K tons, falling for the second month in a row after two months of growth. Over the period under review, exports showed a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 when exports increased by 15% month-to-month. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 5.5K tons. From July 2023 to August 2023, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, baby food exports dropped remarkably to $26M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2023. Overall, total exports indicated modest growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, exports decreased by -29.9% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 with an increase of 25% against the previous month.

Exports by Country
Germany (608 tons), Turkey (411 tons) and Ireland (302 tons) were the main destinations of baby food exports from Poland, together accounting for 36% of total exports. The UK, France, Ukraine and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the UK (with a CAGR of +5.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, Germany ($3.1M), Ireland ($2.5M) and Turkey ($2.3M) appeared to be the largest markets for baby food exported from Poland worldwide, with a combined 30% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the UK, France, Ukraine and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 17%.
The UK, with a CAGR of +7.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In August 2023, the baby food price stood at $7,087 per ton (FOB, Poland), flattening at the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 22% month-to-month. The export price peaked in August 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Russia ($15,509 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($5,026 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ireland (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
