Poland's Circuit Breaker Price Sees Slight Decrease to $12.0 per Unit

Poland Circuit Breaker Export Price in May 2023

In May 2023, the circuit breaker price amounted to $12.0 per unit (FOB, Poland), approximately mirroring the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 35% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $12.1 per unit in April 2023, and then reduced in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($16.9 per unit), while the average price for exports to Italy ($6.5 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+12.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Poland Circuit Breaker Export Prices by Type

Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage of 72.5kV or more ($836 per unit), while the average price for exports of electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage not exceeding 1000 volts ($11.9 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage of 72.5kV or more (+16.6%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.

Poland Circuit Breaker Exports

Circuit breaker exports from Poland rose significantly to 2.2M units in May 2023, surging by 9.4% on the month before. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when exports increased by 34% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 2.5M units in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to May 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, circuit breaker exports amounted to $27M (IndexBox estimates) in May 2023. Over the period under review, total exports indicated perceptible growth from May 2022 to May 2023: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on May 2023 figures, exports decreased by -3.1% against March 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 with an increase of 42% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 27M units in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to May 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Poland Circuit Breaker Exports by Type

Electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage not exceeding 1000 volts (2.2M units) was the largest type of circuit breaker exported from Poland, with a 99.9% share of total exports. It was followed by electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage exceeding 1000 volts but less than 72.5kV (405 units), with less than 0.1% share of total exports.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage not exceeding 1000 volts was relatively modest. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage exceeding 1000 volts but less than 72.5kV (+26.6% per month) and electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage of 72.5kV or more (-37.6% per month).

In value terms, electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage not exceeding 1000 volts ($26M) remains the largest type of circuit breaker exported from Poland, comprising 99% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage exceeding 1000 volts but less than 72.5kV ($160K), with a 0.6% share of total exports.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the export volume of electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage not exceeding 1000 volts totaled +2.8%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage exceeding 1000 volts but less than 72.5kV (+29.2% per month) and electrical apparatus; automatic circuit breakers, for a voltage of 72.5kV or more (-27.4% per month).

Poland Circuit Breaker Exports by Country

France (1.3M units) was the main destination for circuit breaker exports from Poland, accounting for a 58% share of total exports. Moreover, circuit breaker exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (235K units), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Germany (215K units), with a 9.7% share.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to France stood at +1.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Italy (+0.3% per month) and Germany (+0.4% per month).

In value terms, France ($14M) remains the key foreign market for circuit breaker exports from Poland, comprising 54% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($2.5M), with a 9.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Australia, with a 7.4% share.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value to France totaled +3.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Germany (+2.4% per month) and Australia (+8.6% per month).
