Poland's Curtains Price Peaks at $4.7 per Square Meter After Three Consecutive Months of Increase

Poland Curtains Export Price in March 2023

In March 2023, the curtains price amounted to $4.7 per square meter (FOB, Poland), picking up by 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded mild growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 when the average export price increased by 12% month-to-month. The export price peaked in March 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In March 2023, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($8.2 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($2.4 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Poland Curtains Export Prices by Type

Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds, curtain or bed valances; of cotton, not knitted or crocheted ($9.7 per square meter), while the average price for exports of curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds, curtain or bed valances; of synthetic fibres, not knitted or crocheted ($4.3 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds; curtain or bed valances, knitted or crocheted, of textile materials other than cotton or synthetic fibres (+8.0%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.

Poland Curtains Exports

In March 2023, overseas shipments of curtains and interior blinds increased by 12% to 5.2M square meters, rising for the third month in a row after three months of decline. In general, exports, however, recorded a mild slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 when exports increased by 18% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at 5.9M square meters in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to March 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, curtains exports soared to $24M (IndexBox estimates) in March 2023. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at 25M square meters in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to March 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds, curtain or bed valances; of synthetic fibres, not knitted or crocheted (4.2M square meters) was the largest type of curtains exported from Poland, with a 82% share of total exports. Moreover, curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds, curtain or bed valances; of synthetic fibres, not knitted or crocheted exceeded the volume of the second product type, curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds; curtain or bed valances, knitted or crocheted, of synthetic fibres (302K square meters), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds, curtain or bed valances; of textile materials other than cotton or synthetic fibres, not knitted or crocheted (293K square meters), with a 5.7% share.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds, curtain or bed valances; of synthetic fibres, not knitted or crocheted was relatively modest. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds; curtain or bed valances, knitted or crocheted, of synthetic fibres (-2.3% per month) and curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds, curtain or bed valances; of textile materials other than cotton or synthetic fibres, not knitted or crocheted (-0.4% per month).

In value terms, curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds, curtain or bed valances; of synthetic fibres, not knitted or crocheted ($18M) remains the largest type of curtains exported from Poland, comprising 75% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds, curtain or bed valances; of textile materials other than cotton or synthetic fibres, not knitted or crocheted ($2.5M), with a 10% share of total exports. It was followed by curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds, curtain or bed valances; of cotton, not knitted or crocheted, with a 6.3% share.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds, curtain or bed valances; of synthetic fibres, not knitted or crocheted was relatively modest. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds, curtain or bed valances; of textile materials other than cotton or synthetic fibres, not knitted or crocheted (-0.2% per month) and curtains (including drapes) and interior blinds, curtain or bed valances; of cotton, not knitted or crocheted (-0.0% per month).

Poland Curtains Exports by Country

Germany (2.1M square meters) was the main destination for curtains exports from Poland, with a 40% share of total exports. Moreover, curtains exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (883K square meters), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Czech Republic (307K square meters), with a 6% share.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (-1.7% per month) and the Czech Republic (-0.6% per month).

In value terms, Germany ($10M) remains the key foreign market for curtains exports from Poland, comprising 42% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($3.5M), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Spain, with a 5.9% share.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value to Germany was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (-0.2% per month) and Spain (+1.5% per month).
