Poland Frozen Fruit Exports
In 2023, frozen fruit exports from Poland dropped modestly to 320K tons, which is down by -2.7% on the previous year's figure. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 14%. The exports peaked at 384K tons in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, frozen fruit exports reduced to $662M (IndexBox estimates) in 2023. In general, total exports indicated notable growth from 2013 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $731M in 2022, and then fell in the following year.

Exports by Country
Germany (89K tons) was the main destination for frozen fruit exports from Poland, with a 28% share of total exports. Moreover, frozen fruit exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belarus (30K tons), threefold. the Netherlands (30K tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.4% share.
From 2013 to 2023, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+37.0% per year) and the Netherlands (+1.9% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($170M) remains the key foreign market for frozen fruits exports from Poland, comprising 26% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($67M), with a 10% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 10% share.
From 2013 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+4.4% per year) and France (+4.1% per year).
Exports by Type
Frozen fruits and nuts (excluding strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white or red currants, and gooseberries) (150K tons), frozen raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black-, white- or red currants and gooseberries (109K tons) and frozen strawberries (61K tons) were the main products of frozen fruit exports from Poland.
From 2013 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the major product types, was attained by frozen fruits and nuts (excluding strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white or red currants, and gooseberries) (with a CAGR of +2.8%), while the other products experienced a decline.
In value terms, frozen fruits with the largest exports in Poland were frozen fruits and nuts (excluding strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white or red currants, and gooseberries) ($299M), frozen raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black-, white- or red currants and gooseberries ($239M) and frozen strawberries ($124M).
Among the main product categories, frozen fruits and nuts (excluding strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white or red currants, and gooseberries), with a CAGR of +3.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other products experienced mixed trend patterns.
Export Prices by Country
In 2023, the frozen fruit price amounted to $2,066 per ton (FOB, Poland), with a decrease of -7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a modest expansion from 2013 to 2023: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, frozen fruit export price increased by +41.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2022 an increase of 17% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,221 per ton, and then contracted in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($3,119 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($849 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
