Poland's Synthetic Yarn Price Jumps to $7,862/Ton After 2 Months of Increase

Poland Synthetic Yarn Import Price in January 2023

In January 2023, the synthetic yarn price amounted to $7,862 per ton (CIF, Poland), leveling off at the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 22% month-to-month. The import price peaked in January 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($24,193 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($1,778 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Poland Synthetic Yarn Import Prices by Type

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplied products. In January 2023, the product with the highest price was yarn (not sewing thread), of man-made staple fibres, put up for retail sale ($10,282 per ton), while the price for yarn (other than sewing thread) of artificial staple fibres, not put up for retail sale ($4,454 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by yarn (other than sewing thread) of artificial staple fibres, not put up for retail sale (+1.2%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.

Poland Synthetic Yarn Imports

Synthetic yarn imports into Poland soared to 787 tons in January 2023, picking up by 20% compared with the previous month's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a slight setback.

In value terms, synthetic yarn imports skyrocketed to $6.2M (IndexBox estimates) in January 2023. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 when imports increased by 25% m-o-m.

Poland Synthetic Yarn Imports by Type

In January 2023, yarn (other than sewing thread) of synthetic staple fibres, not put up for retail sale (568 tons) constituted the largest type of synthetic yarn supplied to Poland, accounting for a 72% share of total imports. Moreover, yarn (other than sewing thread) of synthetic staple fibres, not put up for retail sale exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, yarn (other than sewing thread) of artificial staple fibres, not put up for retail sale (124 tons), fivefold.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of import of yarn (other than sewing thread) of synthetic staple fibres, not put up for retail sale amounted to -1.7%. With regard to the other supplied products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: yarn (other than sewing thread) of artificial staple fibres, not put up for retail sale (-1.5% per month) and yarn (not sewing thread), of man-made staple fibres, put up for retail sale (+3.4% per month).

In value terms, yarn (other than sewing thread) of synthetic staple fibres, not put up for retail sale ($4.7M) constituted the largest type of synthetic yarn supplied to Poland, comprising 75% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by yarn (not sewing thread), of man-made staple fibres, put up for retail sale ($973K), with a 16% share of total imports.

Poland Synthetic Yarn Imports by Country

Turkey (265 tons), China (138 tons) and Romania (90 tons) were the main suppliers of synthetic yarn imports to Poland, together accounting for 63% of total imports. Germany, India, France, Indonesia and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the biggest increases were in France (with a CAGR of +102.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest synthetic yarn suppliers to Poland were Germany ($2.1M), Turkey ($1.8M) and China ($679K), with a combined 75% share of total imports. Romania, India, France, Indonesia and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.

In terms of the main suppliers, France, with a CAGR of +71.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
