Moreover, prepared additives for cements production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, the United States (2.1M tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by India (1.2M tons), with a 7.4% share.

In China, prepared additives for cements production increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the period from 2013-2024. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: the United States (+4.0% per year) and India (+4.5% per year).

At the same time, Denmark (+15.5%), Hong Kong SAR (+11.1%), Malaysia (+6.9%), Indonesia (+4.2%), Iraq (+3.5%), Kuwait (+2.4%) and Saudi Arabia (+1.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. India experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Singapore (-5.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, the largest prepared additives for cements importing markets worldwide were the Philippines ($162M), Kuwait ($82M) and Saudi Arabia ($59M), with a combined 14% share of global imports.

The Philippines, with a CAGR of +28.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices By Country

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2024 figures, exports increased by +30.9% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, the global exports hit record highs in 2024 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, prepared additives for cements exports declined to $1.8B in 2024. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+11.5%), India (+10.3%), Turkey (+7.7%), Spain (+3.9%) and South Korea (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +11.5% from 2013-2024. By contrast, Russia (-2.1%), Malaysia (-2.9%), Germany (-3.9%) and Italy (-4.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+29 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2013-2024, the share of Russia (-1.5 p.p.), Malaysia (-1.7 p.p.), Italy (-3.5 p.p.) and Germany (-4.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($331M), Germany ($191M) and Italy ($110M) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2024, together comprising 35% of global exports. South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Spain, Russia, India and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.

Among the main exporting countries, Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +14.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices By Country

In 2024, the average prepared additives for cements export price amounted to $548 per ton, which is down by -7.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 15% against the previous year. The global export price peaked at $826 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2024, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,905 per ton), while China ($161 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
