Over the period under review, preserved peas production reached its peak figure level at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2018, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports from Hungary
Preserved peas exports from Hungary stood at X tons in 2018, dropping by -X% against the previous year. In general, preserved peas exports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, preserved peas exports reached their maximum at X tons in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2018, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, preserved peas exports amounted to $X (IndexBox estimates) in 2018. Over the period under review, preserved peas exports continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2018, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Russia (X tons) was the main destination for preserved peas exports from Hungary, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, preserved peas exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), twofold. Italy (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.
From 2008 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of volume to Russia stood at -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+X% per year) and Italy (+X% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for preserved peas exported from Hungary were Russia ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Romania, Lithuania, Belgium, the UK, the Czech Republic, Latvia, France, Poland and Armenia, which together accounted for a further X%.
Among the main countries of destination, Belgium recorded the highest growth rate of exports, over the last decade, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average preserved peas export price stood at $X per ton in 2018, surging by X% against the previous year. In general, the preserved peas export price, however, continues to indicate a temperate contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 an increase of X% y-o-y. In that year, the average export prices for preserved peas reached their peak level of $X per ton. From 2012 to 2018, the growth in terms of the average export prices for preserved peas remained at a lower figure.
