Artificial Corundum Exports from China Surge Twofold, Recovering from Previous Year's Slump

China strengthens its leading position in the global artificial corundum market as a major supplier. In January-August 2021, its exports spiked by 41% compared to the same period of the previous year, totalling 581K tons. In monetary terms, supplies grew nearly twofold to $679M. The key China's artificial corundum buyers, Japan, India and South Korea, increased their purchases more than twofold, while shipments to the Netherlands rose threefold in value. In January-August 2021, the average export price of artificial corundum from China was 39% higher than those of the same period 2020.
