U.S. Sharply Ramps Up Imports of Chemical Contraceptives from India

Indian suppliers expand their presence in the American chemical contraceptive market. In January-October 2021, the U.S. imported 1.4K tons of contraceptives from India, 36% more compared to the same period of 2020. Over this period, total U.S. import volume increased by 20%, reaching 2.8K tons. In value terms, purchases rose by 1% to $1.2B. The average contraceptive import price in the U.S. decreased by 16% against the same period in 2020. India remains the primary supplier, with a 44%-share in American imports.
