In 2023, purchases abroad of aluminum and alloys increased by 102% to 4K tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at 4.4K tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, aluminum imports surged to $7.6M (IndexBox estimates) in 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a slight contraction. Imports peaked at $8.7M in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.
