Qatar Nuts Import Price in April 2023
In April 2023, the nuts price amounted to $5,398 per ton (CIF, Qatar), dropping by -18.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 33% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $7,247 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to April 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Oman ($8,413 per ton), while the price for Bangladesh ($985 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Jordan (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Qatar Nuts Imports
In April 2023, approximately 249 tons of nuts (prepared or preserved) were imported into Qatar; remaining constant against March 2023. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from April 2022 to April 2023: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +5.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on April 2023 figures, imports decreased by -12.6% against December 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 with an increase of 94% m-o-m.
In value terms, nuts (prepared or preserved) imports shrank remarkably to $1.3M (IndexBox estimates) in April 2023. In general, imports showed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when imports increased by 117% m-o-m.
Qatar Nuts Imports by Country
Lebanon (71 tons), Bangladesh (47 tons) and Jordan (36 tons) were the main suppliers of nuts (prepared or preserved) imports to Qatar, together comprising 62% of total imports. These countries were followed by the United States, Turkey, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, Syrian Arab Republic, Kuwait, Oman and India, which together accounted for a further 36%.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the biggest increases were in the United States (with a CAGR of +9.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Lebanon ($535K) constituted the largest supplier of nuts (prepared or preserved) to Qatar, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($232K), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Jordan, with a 14% share.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value from Lebanon stood at +8.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: the United States (+10.5% per month) and Jordan (+12.6% per month).
