Qatar Particle Board Import Price in January 2023
In January 2023, the particle board price stood at $331 per cubic meter (CIF, Qatar), with a decrease of -11.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 when the average import price increased by 32% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $672 per cubic meter in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to January 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($639 per cubic meter), while the price for China ($215 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Qatar Particle Board Import Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplied products. In January 2023, the product with the highest price was particle board and similar board of ligneous materials (excluding wood) ($10,037 per cubic meter), while the price for waferboards ($316 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by board of bagasse, bamboo or other particles (+7.2%), while the prices for the other products experienced mixed trend patterns.
Qatar Particle Board Imports
In January 2023, approximately 2.6K cubic meters of particle boards were imported into Qatar; shrinking by -14.8% on December 2022 figures. Overall, imports showed a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 when imports increased by 33% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 5.2K cubic meters in October 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to January 2023.
In value terms, particle board imports dropped markedly to $859K (IndexBox estimates) in January 2023. In general, imports saw a mild slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 42% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at 2.7M cubic meters in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to January 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.
Qatar Particle Board Imports by Type
In January 2023, waferboards (2.5K cubic meters) was the main type of particle board supplied to Qatar, with a 98% share of total imports. It was followed by wooden particle board (60 cubic meters), with a 2.3% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of import of waferboards totaled -1.6%. With regard to the other supplied products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: wooden particle board (+0.1% per month) and particle board and similar board of ligneous materials (excluding wood) (-5.0% per month).
In value terms, waferboards ($800K) constituted the largest type of particle board supplied to Qatar, comprising 93% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by particle board and similar board of ligneous materials (excluding wood) ($34K), with a 4% share of total imports.
Qatar Particle Board Imports by Country
In January 2023, Turkey (1.7K cubic meters) constituted the largest particle board supplier to Qatar, with a 66% share of total imports. Moreover, particle board imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (222 cubic meters), eightfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (208 cubic meters), with an 8% share.
From January 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly growth rate of volume from Turkey amounted to -1.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Spain (+4.8% per month) and Italy (-4.8% per month).
In value terms, Turkey ($471K) constituted the largest supplier of particle board to Qatar, comprising 55% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Spain ($93K), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with an 11% share.
From January 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from Turkey amounted to -1.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Spain (+6.1% per month) and Italy (-3.5% per month).
