Qatar Experiences Significant Rise in Raspberry and Blackberry Price, Reaching $11.9 per kg
Qatar Raspberry And Blackberry Import Price in April 2023
In April 2023, the raspberry and blackberry price amounted to $11,914 per ton (CIF, Qatar), with an increase of 11% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 16% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $14,657 per ton in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to April 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($19,495 per ton), while the price for Morocco ($8,303 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Portugal (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Qatar Raspberry And Blackberry Imports
In April 2023, raspberry and blackberry imports into Qatar shrank to 73 tons, with a decrease of -3.9% against the previous month. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 with an increase of 38% m-o-m. As a result, imports reached the peak of 78 tons. From March 2023 to April 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, raspberry and blackberry imports amounted to $867K (IndexBox estimates) in April 2023. In general, imports showed a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 with an increase of 38% against the previous month.
Qatar Raspberry And Blackberry Imports by Country
In April 2023, Morocco (32 tons) constituted the largest supplier of raspberry and blackberry to Qatar, accounting for a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, raspberry and blackberry imports from Morocco exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Africa (16 tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United States (13 tons), with an 18% share.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from Morocco was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: South Africa (+12.5% per month) and the United States (+2.8% per month).
In value terms, the largest raspberry and blackberry suppliers to Qatar were Morocco ($266K), South Africa ($218K) and the United States ($173K), with a combined 76% share of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, South Africa, with a CAGR of +13.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
