Qatar's Tufted Carpet Price Slumps 11%, Averaging $6.4 per Square Meter

Qatar Tufted Carpet Import Price in April 2023

In April 2023, the tufted carpet price stood at $6.4 per square meter (CIF, Qatar), shrinking by -10.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, enjoyed a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 481% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $69,763 per thousand square meters. From March 2023 to April 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was India ($32.4 per square meter), while the price for Turkey ($2.3 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+13.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Turkey (13K square meters), China (9.2K square meters) and Iran (4.1K square meters) were the main suppliers of tufted carpet imports to Qatar, together accounting for 90% of total imports.

From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (with a CAGR of -10.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, India ($96K) constituted the largest supplier of tufted carpet to Qatar, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($39K), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 16% share.

From April 2022 to April 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value from India stood at -10.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: China (-10.1% per month) and Turkey (-22.7% per month).
