Qatar Unvulcanized Rubber Imports
In 2023, approx. 1.6K tons of unvulcanized rubber and articles thereof were imported into Qatar; dropping by -29.6% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, showed a slight expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 107%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 4.3K tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, unvulcanized rubber imports fell sharply to $5.6M (IndexBox estimates) in 2023. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 92% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $13M. From 2015 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country
Indonesia (348 tons), the UK (316 tons) and Germany (263 tons) were the main suppliers of unvulcanized rubber imports to Qatar, with a combined 56% share of total imports.
From 2013 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Indonesia (with a CAGR of +46.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest unvulcanized rubber suppliers to Qatar were the UK ($807K), Indonesia ($652K) and Germany ($642K), together accounting for 38% of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +41.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports by Type
In 2023, plates, sheets, strip, rods and profile shapes, of vulcanised rubber other than hard rubber (1.7K tons) was the main type of unvulcanized rubber and articles thereof supplied to Qatar, with a 93% share of total imports. Moreover, plates, sheets, strip, rods and profile shapes, of vulcanised rubber other than hard rubber exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, rubber (77 tons), more than tenfold. Compounded rubber, unvulcanised, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strip (56 tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.1% share.
From 2013 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of the volume of plates, sheets, strip, rods and profile shapes, of vulcanised rubber other than hard rubber imports amounted to +5.4%. With regard to the other supplied products, the following average annual rates of growth were recorded: rubber (-8.9% per year) and compounded rubber, unvulcanised, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strip (-13.0% per year).
In value terms, plates, sheets, strip, rods and profile shapes, of vulcanised rubber other than hard rubber ($5.1M) constituted the largest type of unvulcanized rubber and articles thereof supplied to Qatar, comprising 91% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by compounded rubber, unvulcanised, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strip ($298K), with a 5.3% share of total imports. It was followed by rubber, with a 3.6% share.
Import Prices by Country
In 2023, the unvulcanized rubber price amounted to $3,397 per ton (CIF, Qatar), shrinking by -26.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 32% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $4,803 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2023, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($7,472 per ton), while the price for China ($1,277 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+12.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
