Rapyd Financial Network is reportedly engaging in discussions to secure a $300 million investment, albeit at a substantially reduced valuation of $3.5 billion, compared to its prior $9 billion valuation in 2021. Details of this development were shared by sources familiar with the situation here. The funding pursuit aligns with Rapyd's strategic acquisition plan, focusing on acquiring a payment processing startup to enhance its service offerings.

Despite a downturn in its valuation, the company remains committed to growth. Rapyd, which competes with giants like Stripe Inc., has utilized acquisition as a key growth strategy, having previously acquired several companies such as PayU units for $610 million, Neat, and Valitor. CEO Arik Shtilman previously analogized Rapyd's acquisition efforts to a "strategic game of Pac-Man" during the Dubai FinTech Summit.

According to IndexBox, the downtrend in valuations is not isolated to Rapyd. A report highlights that flat or down funding rounds constituted 27% of all deals in the first three quarters of 2024, marking a significant shift due to a sector-wide funding drought.
