India (58M units) ranked third in terms of total consumption with a 7.6% share.

Global production peaked at 760M units in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, production failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, safety headgear production rose slightly to $13.5B in 2023 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, the total production indicated a strong increase from 2013 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, production decreased by -1.8% against 2021 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the production volume increased by 22%. China (312M units) constituted the country with the largest volume of safety headgear production, comprising approx. 42% of total volume. Moreover, safety headgear production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, the United States (65M units), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by India (64M units), with an 8.5% share.
In China, safety headgear production increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the period from 2013-2023. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United States (+1.1% per year) and India (+3.4% per year).

World Imports of Safety Headgear
In 2023, supplies from abroad of safety headgear decreased by -1% to 260M units, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2013 to 2023; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 314M units. From 2018 to 2023, the growth of global imports remained at a lower figure.

The average safety headgear import price stood at $15 per unit in 2023, reducing by -17.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated measured growth from 2013 to 2023: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, safety headgear import price increased by +74.0% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 28%. The global exports peaked at $4.7B in 2022, and then declined in the following year.
Exports By Country
In 2023, China (121M units) was the main exporter of safety headgear, committing 50% of total exports. Poland (27M units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an 11% share, followed by the United States (5.3%). Germany (9.3M units), Malaysia (8.9M units), Taiwan (Chinese) (6.8M units), India (6.6M units), France (6.1M units), Spain (4.5M units) and Italy (3.9M units) took a little share of total exports.
Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% from 2013 to 2023. At the same time, Malaysia (+17.2%), Spain (+8.1%), India (+7.4%), Germany (+4.7%), France (+3.6%), Italy (+3.3%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +17.2% from 2013-2023. By contrast, the United States (-1.3%) and Poland (-7.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+7.8 p.p.) and Malaysia (+2.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2013-2023, the share of Poland (-14.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($1.3B) remains the largest safety headgear supplier worldwide, comprising 32% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($361M), with an 8.8% share of global exports. It was followed by France, with a 6.4% share.

Export Prices By Country
In 2023, the average safety headgear export price amounted to $17 per unit, with an increase of 2.8% against the previous year.
