Shell and Equinor Create UK's Largest Independent Oil Producer

In a significant move for the UK's North Sea oil and gas industry, Equinor ASA and Shell Plc have announced a joint venture to integrate their UK offshore assets, resulting in the region's largest independent producer. The official announcement can be read here.

The newly formed entity will be jointly managed by Equinor and Shell, leveraging their extensive expertise in this domain to bolster the UK's energy security and sustain domestic oil and gas production. Currently, these companies employ approximately 1,300 people in upstream roles within the UK and collectively produce around 140,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

This strategic merger comes at a time when the global oil and gas landscape is shifting.
