The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2013 to 2023; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2022 when the production volume increased by 24%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $1.7B, and then fell in the following year.
Production By Country
China (678K tons) remains the largest sodium triphosphate producing country worldwide, accounting for 51% of total volume. Moreover, sodium triphosphate production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Tunisia (167K tons), fourfold. Belgium (128K tons) ranked third in terms of total production with a 9.6% share.
In China, sodium triphosphate production remained relatively stable over the period from 2013-2023. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: Tunisia (+0.8% per year) and Belgium (+0.4% per year).

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 6.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports reached the peak figure at 729K tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Import Prices By Country
The average sodium triphosphate import price stood at $1,464 per ton in 2023, waning by -11.9% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a moderate expansion from 2013 to 2023: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, sodium triphosphate import price increased by +43.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 when the average import price increased by 45%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,661 per ton, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, China ($253M) remains the largest sodium triphosphate supplier worldwide, comprising 40% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($100M), with a 16% share of global exports. It was followed by Russia, with a 7% share.
