South Africa Acrylic Acid Esters Export Price in July 2023
In July 2023, the acrylic acid esters price stood at $1,373 per ton (FOB, South Africa), which is down by -1.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a noticeable slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 16% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,878 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,488 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($975 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

South Africa Acrylic Acid Esters Exports
In July 2023, shipments abroad of esters of acrylic acid was finally on the rise to reach 3.3K tons after three months of decline. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when exports increased by 391% against the previous month.
In value terms, acrylic acid esters exports surged to $4.5M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 with an increase of 363% against the previous month.
South Africa Acrylic Acid Esters Exports by Country
the United States (1.7K tons), Belgium (1.1K tons) and the United Arab Emirates (455 tons) were the main destinations of acrylic acid esters exports from South Africa, together accounting for 98% of total exports. Uruguay lagged somewhat behind, comprising a further 1.8%.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Uruguay (with a CAGR of +9.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($2.5M), Belgium ($1.6M) and the United Arab Emirates ($443K) appeared to be the largest markets for acrylic acid esters exported from South Africa worldwide, with a combined 98% share of total exports. Uruguay lagged somewhat behind, comprising a further 1.6%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Uruguay, with a CAGR of +4.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
