South Africa Concrete Tile Exports
In 2023, after two years of growth, there was decline in overseas shipments of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone, when their volume decreased by -4.2% to 58K tons. Overall, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2013 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, exports increased by +63.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at 60K tons in 2022, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, concrete tile exports dropped sharply to $6.3M (IndexBox estimates) in 2023. In general, exports recorded a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $8.2M in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
