In 2023, purchases abroad of power tools decreased by -7.1% to 2M units, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports continue to indicate a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 123% against the previous year. In 2023, China (1.7M units) constituted the largest power tool supplier to South Africa, with a 88% share of total imports.
