Spain Ceramic Tile Export Price in March 2023
In March 2023, the ceramic tile price stood at $11.1 per square meter (FOB, Spain), leveling off at the previous month. Over the period from March 2022 to March 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2022 an increase of 9.7% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $11.5 per square meter in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to March 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In March 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($15.0 per square meter), while the average price for exports to the Dominican Republic ($6.4 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Dominican Republic (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Spain Ceramic Tile Exports
In March 2023, shipments abroad of ceramic tiles increased by 17% to 35M square meters, rising for the second month in a row after two months of decline. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 with an increase of 25% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at 61M square meters in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to March 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, ceramic tile exports skyrocketed to $384M (IndexBox estimates) in March 2023. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when exports increased by 25% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at 604M square meters in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to March 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Spain Ceramic Tile Exports by Country
France (4.6M square meters), the United States (2.8M square meters) and the UK (2M square meters) were the main destinations of ceramic tile exports from Spain, together accounting for 27% of total exports. Italy, Morocco, Israel, Portugal, the Dominican Republic, Germany, Greece, Romania, Belgium and Saudi Arabia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Italy (with a CAGR of +2.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($53M), the United States ($41M) and the UK ($25M) constituted the largest markets for ceramic tile exported from Spain worldwide, with a combined 31% share of total exports. Italy, Germany, Morocco, Portugal, Israel, Belgium, Greece, the Dominican Republic, Saudi Arabia and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.
Greece, with a CAGR of +3.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
