Spanish Travel Firm HBX Group Considers IPO: A Major European Listing in 2025

Spanish travel technology company, HBX Group, is reportedly planning an initial public offering (IPO) which could be announced as early as next week. According to a Bloomberg report, this move represents one of Europe's first major listings projected for 2025.

HBX Group, financially backed by private equity firm Cinven and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, is in the process of preparing a floatation intention document. This documentation is a crucial step towards initiating the IPO process in Spain, insiders familiar with the proceedings stated. The firm might seek a valuation of approximately EUR5 billion ($5.2 billion), potentially raising around EUR1 billion or more, subject to investor interest.

The company, previously known as Hotelbeds, was acquired for about EUR1.2 billion in 2016 by Cinven and CPPIB from TUI AG. HBX, operating a wholesale platform, connects hotels with travel agencies, airlines, and tour operators, contributing to its substantial market valuation.

This IPO forms part of a broader trend as private equity entities prepare to publicize firms amid pressures to generate returns for their investors, while stock prices remain at elevated levels. In parallel, Blackstone Inc. is preparing to list Spanish casino operator Cirsa Enterprises in the first half of the year, reflecting a revitalized market for public offerings.
