Spirit AeroSystems Expects Significant Quarterly Revenue Increase

Spirit AeroSystems has announced its expectations to post a higher-than-anticipated quarterly revenue, a development attributed to the resumption of production at Boeing, its largest client. The full story can be accessed here.

The aerospace supplier reported that its deliveries surged by approximately 15% in the fourth quarter, mainly due to increased shipments of Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 shipsets. According to data from the IndexBox platform, the global demand for aerospace components has been on an upward trajectory, aligning with Spirit AeroSystems' recent growth.

Following a disruptive strike that halted most of its jet production, Boeing indicated last month that it was making headway in ramping up its aircraft production. This recovery has catalyzed the improved revenue projections for Spirit AeroSystems.

The Wichita-based company is projecting revenues of $1.66 billion for the quarter ending December 31, 2024, outstripping analysts' average forecasts of $1.61 billion. However, despite the promising revenue forecasts, the company anticipates a loss of $413 million, in part due to elevated labor and raw material costs, which underscore the ongoing strains within the aerospace supply chain.

Spirit AeroSystems also reaffirmed its intent to disclose a going-concern notice in its annual filing. This follows its November warning where it expressed "substantial doubt" regarding its capability to remain operational. The previous year, the company had recorded a profit of $291 million, highlighting the challenges it currently faces.
