T-Mobile US Inc. Surpasses Analyst Expectations with Robust Q4 Results

T-Mobile US Inc. continues its upward trajectory with fourth-quarter results that substantially exceeded analyst projections, thanks to sustained growth in both wireless subscribers and home internet customers. According to a detailed report from Bloomberg, the telecom giant added 903,000 monthly phone customers, surpassing the expected 865,000 by a significant margin.

The company's earnings per share increased to $2.57, outperforming the predicted earnings of $2.29 per share. These financial outcomes have resulted in a 5% increase in the company's shares during premarket trading. T-Mobile's revenue for the fourth quarter climbed to $21.9 billion, outpacing the analysts' estimate of $21.3 billion. Analyzing the subscriber growth, T-Mobile welcomed 428,000 high-speed internet customers, higher than the 409,000 projected by experts.

In a statement, T-Mobile Chief Executive Officer Mike Sievert conveyed his optimism about the future growth, asserting that "2025 is poised to be even more exciting." As T-Mobile heads into 2025, the company projects it will add between 5.5 million to 6 million total post-paid customer net additions this year, after already welcoming 6.1 million new customers in 2024. This optimism is buoyed by T-Mobile's strategic investments, including a $4.9 billion commitment to a joint venture with KKR & Co. to acquire the fiber-optic internet service provider Metronet.

The company's strategy to expand its 5G network, particularly into rural areas and regions lacking fiber internet, demonstrates its aim to maintain a competitive edge over rivals like AT&T Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc.
