Tesla Shares Set to Rebound Despite Recent Losses

Tesla shares are capturing investor attention following two consecutive days of losses, with the focus now shifting towards the electric vehicle maker's anticipated fourth-quarter delivery report. As detailed in a report from Yahoo Finance, Wall Street estimates the delivery figures could hit around 510,000 units, reflecting a 10% increase from the previous quarter and a 5% year-over-year rise.

Despite the recent dip, Tesla's shares have surged over 70% since the November 5 presidential election. This growth is largely driven by optimism regarding CEO Elon Musk's increasing influence in Washington, which is expected to advance Tesla's autonomous driving goals. However, the stock recently closed at $431.66, experiencing a nearly 7% decline over two trading sessions and down from its December 18 peak of $488.54. The Federal Reserve's indication of a slower pace of interest rate cuts starting in 2025 has added pressure, given the potential impact of high interest rates on vehicle financing and sales.

Despite a dip in the relative strength index (RSI) from its December highs, the RSI remains above 50, indicating vibrant price momentum.

Investors using the measuring principle suggest an upside price target of $615 if the continuation pattern unfolds successfully. However, breaking below the pennant's lower trendline might cause shares to revisit the $360 level. This level lies just above the 50-day moving average and close to the ascending triangle's top trend line, potentially offering support. Further deterioration could lead to a retest of the $300 level, where strategic buying opportunities might arise near the psychological benchmark and the stock's notable July 2023 high.
