Thailand Palm Oil Export Price in July 2023
In July 2023, the palm oil price stood at $1,284 per ton (FOB, Thailand), flattening at the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 27% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,295 per ton, leveling off in the following month.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Myanmar.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Kenya amounted to -1.0% per month.

Thailand Palm Oil Export Prices by Type
Average prices varied noticeably for the major types of exported product. In July 2023, the product with the highest price was refined palm oil ($1,286 per ton), while the average price for exports of crude palm oil amounted to $1,098 per ton.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: crude palm oil (-0.8%).
Thailand Palm Oil Exports
In July 2023, overseas shipments of palm oil decreased by -10.1% to 6.4K tons, falling for the fourth month in a row after two months of growth. Overall, exports saw a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when exports increased by 130% month-to-month.
In value terms, palm oil exports declined to $8.2M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2023. In general, exports showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 with an increase of 105% month-to-month.
Thailand Palm Oil Exports by Type
Refined palm oil (6.3K tons) was the largest type of palm oil exported from Thailand, accounting for a 99% share of total exports. It was followed by crude palm oil (65 tons), with a 1% share of total exports.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of export of refined palm oil amounted to -4.9%.
In value terms, refined palm oil ($8.1M) remains the largest type of palm oil exported from Thailand, comprising 99% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by crude palm oil ($71K), with a 0.9% share of total exports.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of refined palm oil totaled -6.5%.
Thailand Palm Oil Exports by Country
Myanmar (5.4K tons) was the main destination for palm oil exports from Thailand, with a 85% share of total exports. Moreover, palm oil exports to Myanmar exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, China (539 tons), tenfold. Cambodia (281 tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 4.4% share.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the average monthly growth rate of volume to Myanmar totaled -5.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: China (+14.8% per month) and Cambodia (-3.6% per month).
In value terms, Myanmar ($6.9M) remains the key foreign market for palm oil exports from Thailand, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($710K), with an 8.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Cambodia, with a 4.6% share.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value to Myanmar totaled -7.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: China (+14.3% per month) and Cambodia (-5.8% per month).
