Thailand Transistor Import Price in July 2023
In July 2023, the transistor price stood at $90.6 per thousand units (CIF, Thailand), reducing by -9.8% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 20% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $100 per thousand units in June 2023, and then fell in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($199 per thousand units), while the price for South Korea ($12.0 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Thailand Transistor Import Prices by Type
Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was electrical apparatus; transistors, (other than photosensitive), with a dissipation rate of 1W or more ($99.9 per thousand units), while the price for electrical apparatus; transistors, (other than photosensitive), with a dissipation rate of less than 1W amounted to $27.6 per thousand units.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by electrical apparatus; transistors, (other than photosensitive), with a dissipation rate of 1W or more (+1.7%).
Thailand Transistor Imports
In July 2023, the amount of transistors, other than photosensitive transistors imported into Thailand rose notably to 696M units, growing by 7.4% on June 2023 figures. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 with an increase of 24% against the previous month. Imports peaked at 912M units in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, transistor imports declined modestly to $63M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2023. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 with an increase of 21% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at 78M units in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Thailand Transistor Imports by Type
In July 2023, electrical apparatus; transistors, (other than photosensitive), with a dissipation rate of 1W or more (607M units) constituted the largest type of transistor supplied to Thailand, accounting for a 87% share of total imports. Moreover, electrical apparatus; transistors, (other than photosensitive), with a dissipation rate of 1W or more exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, electrical apparatus; transistors, (other than photosensitive), with a dissipation rate of less than 1W (89M units), sevenfold.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of import of electrical apparatus; transistors, (other than photosensitive), with a dissipation rate of 1W or more stood at -1.8%.
In value terms, electrical apparatus; transistors, (other than photosensitive), with a dissipation rate of 1W or more ($61M) constituted the largest type of transistor supplied to Thailand, comprising 96% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by electrical apparatus; transistors, (other than photosensitive), with a dissipation rate of less than 1W ($2.5M), with a 3.9% share of total imports.
Thailand Transistor Imports by Country
South Korea (272M units), China (182M units) and the Philippines (74M units) were the main suppliers of transistor imports to Thailand, with a combined 76% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Malaysia, Japan and Taiwan (Chinese), which together accounted for a further 11%.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (with a CAGR of +5.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, China ($28M) constituted the largest supplier of transistor to Thailand, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Philippines ($8.8M), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 12% share.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: the Philippines (+4.8% per month) and Malaysia (-3.9% per month).
