Toyota is expected to reveal a 16% year-on-year decrease in operating profit, translating to 1.419 trillion yen or $9.1 billion for the October-December quarter, as specified in a consensus forecast of nine analysts conducted by LSEG. This follows a prior quarter where profits had already declined by 20%, deviating from the previously impressive earnings streak sustained by hybrid vehicle sales and favorable exchange rates.

The company's global unit sales reached 10.8 million vehicles in 2024, allowing it to maintain the title of the world's top-selling automaker for the fifth consecutive year. However, global sales of Toyota's brands remained largely stable with a less than 1% decrease over the previous year during the same quarter, while production was reduced by 4%.

Despite a slight dip in production volumes and sales figures, Toyota has experienced a stabilization in production processes, hinting at a potentially constructive forecast for the remainder of the fiscal year ending in March.
