Turkey's Bedspread Export Soars by 10% in October 2023, Reaching $6.9M

Turkey Bedspread Exports

In October 2023, approximately 883K units of bedspreads (excluding eiderdowns) were exported from Turkey; increasing by 12% against the month before. Over the period under review, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 with an increase of 25% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in October 2023.

In value terms, bedspread exports expanded markedly to $6.9M (IndexBox estimates) in October 2023. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2% over the period from October 2022 to October 2023; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 with an increase of 26% against the previous month. Exports by Country

Poland (137K units), France (129K units) and Germany (96K units) were the main destinations of bedspread exports from Turkey, with a combined 41% share of total exports.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the biggest increases were in France (with a CAGR of +11.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for bedspread exported from Turkey were France ($1M), Poland ($985K) and Germany ($825K), together accounting for 41% of total exports.

France, with a CAGR of +14.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In October 2023, the bedspread price amounted to $7.8 per unit (FOB, Turkey), with a decrease of -1.6% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 9% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $8.2 per unit in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($12.6 per unit), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan ($5.5 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
