Turkey Berry Exports
In October 2023, shipments abroad of berries decreased by -38.6% to 127 tons, falling for the third month in a row after two months of growth. Overall, exports, however, showed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 with an increase of 321% against the previous month.
In value terms, berry exports dropped to $245K (IndexBox estimates) in October 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 with an increase of 344% m-o-m. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $99M. From July 2023 to October 2023, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country
From October 2022 to October 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to No country was relatively modest.

Exports by Type
Strawberries (125 tons) was the largest type of berry exported from Turkey, accounting for a 98% share of total exports. It was followed by blueberries and cranberries (2.1 tons), with a 1.7% share of total exports. The third position in this ranking was taken by raspberries and blackberries (34 kg), with less than 0.1% share.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of strawberries amounted to +8.6%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: blueberries and cranberries (-16.0% per month) and raspberries and blackberries (-20.5% per month).
In value terms, strawberries ($242K) emerged as the largest type of berry exported from Turkey, comprising 99% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by blueberries and cranberries ($3.2K), with a 1.3% share of total exports. It was followed by raspberries and blackberries, with a 0.1% share.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the export volume of strawberries amounted to +7.3%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: blueberries and cranberries (-7.4% per month) and raspberries and blackberries (-6.6% per month).
Export Prices by Country
In October 2023, the berry price amounted to $1,926 per ton (FOB, Turkey), jumping by 59% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 106% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,297 per ton. From July 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($3,632 per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($215 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+16.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
