In December 2023, approximately 2.7K units of public-transport type passenger motor vehicles were exported from Turkey; picking up by 17% compared with November 2023. In general, total exports indicated measured growth from December 2022 to December 2023: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2023 figures, exports increased by +66.7% against July 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 with an increase of 40% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in December 2023.
In value terms, bus exports rose markedly to $291M (IndexBox estimates) in December 2023. Over the period under review, exports posted measured growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 with an increase of 37% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in December 2023.

Exports by Country
Spain (382 units), Germany (382 units) and Italy (365 units) were the main destinations of bus exports from Turkey, together accounting for 42% of total exports.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the biggest increases were in Spain (with a CAGR of +11.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($50M), Italy ($46M) and Spain ($39M) were the largest markets for bus exported from Turkey worldwide, with a combined 46% share of total exports.
Spain, with a CAGR of +11.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In December 2023, the bus price amounted to $108K per unit (FOB, Turkey), reducing by -8.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.6% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $118K per unit in November 2023, and then fell in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Israel ($147K per unit), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($53,207 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
