Coconut Oil Price in Turkey Skyrocket 28%, Averaging $2,258 per Ton

Turkey Coconut Oil Import Price in January 2023

In January 2023, the coconut oil price amounted to $2,258 per ton (CIF, Turkey), rising by 28% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $2,435 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to January 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($2,241 per ton), while the price for Malaysia stood at $950 per ton.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Turkey Coconut Oil Import Prices by Type

Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was refined coconut (copra) oil ($2,258 per ton), while the price for crude coconut (copra) oil totaled $1,333 per ton.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by refined coconut oil (+0.4%).

Turkey Coconut Oil Imports

Coconut oil imports into Turkey shrank rapidly to 109 tons in January 2023, waning by -95.2% on December 2022. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when imports increased by 752% month-to-month.

In value terms, coconut oil imports contracted significantly to $246K (IndexBox estimates) in January 2023. Over the period under review, imports showed a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 with an increase of 734% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of $9.2M. From June 2022 to January 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of import of refined coconut (copra) oil totaled -10.4%.

In value terms, refined coconut (copra) oil ($246K) constituted the largest type of coconut oil supplied to Turkey, comprising 99.9% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by crude coconut (copra) oil ($4), with less than 0.1% share of total imports.

In January 2023, France (106 tons) was the main coconut oil supplier to Turkey, accounting for a 98% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia (20 kg), with less than 0.1% share of total imports.

From January 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly growth rate of volume from France totaled -6.3%.

In value terms, France ($238K) constituted the largest supplier of coconut oil to Turkey, comprising 97% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($19), with less than 0.1% share of total imports.
