Concrete reinforcing bar exports from Turkey shrank rapidly to 3.7M tons in 2023, reducing by -35.8% against the year before. Overall, exports recorded a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 26%. The exports peaked at 8.2M tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, concrete reinforcing bar exports shrank notably to $2.3B (IndexBox estimates) in 2023. In general, exports showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 85%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $4.8B in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country
Yemen (750K tons), Israel (736K tons) and Ethiopia (247K tons) were the main destinations of concrete reinforcing bar exports from Turkey, with a combined 47% share of total exports. Cyprus, Panama, Jamaica, Senegal, the United States, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.
From 2013 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Senegal (with a CAGR of +24.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for concrete reinforcing bar exported from Turkey were Israel ($455M), Yemen ($451M) and Ethiopia ($157M), with a combined 46% share of total exports. Cyprus, Panama, Jamaica, Senegal, the United States, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Senegal, with a CAGR of +25.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2023, the concrete reinforcing bar price amounted to $625 per ton (FOB, Turkey), which is down by -15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 47%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $736 per ton in 2022, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Jamaica ($662 per ton) and Panama ($661 per ton), while the average price for exports to Syrian Arab Republic ($518 per ton) and Romania ($579 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Panama (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
