Turkey Cream Fresh Exports
Cream fresh exports from Turkey fell to 343 tons in September 2023, which is down by -11.1% compared with the previous month's figure. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when exports increased by 72% month-to-month.
In value terms, cream fresh exports declined to $1.1M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2023. In general, total exports indicated a mild expansion from September 2022 to September 2023: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, exports increased by +28.1% against July 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 with an increase of 58% month-to-month.

Exports by Country
Iraq (150 tons) was the main destination for cream fresh exports from Turkey, accounting for a 44% share of total exports. Moreover, cream fresh exports to Iraq exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Syrian Arab Republic (46 tons), threefold. Azerbaijan (40 tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 12% share.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the average monthly growth rate of volume to Iraq amounted to +2.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Syrian Arab Republic (-7.0% per month) and Azerbaijan (-2.8% per month).
In value terms, Iraq ($571K) remains the key foreign market for cream fresh exports from Turkey, comprising 54% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Azerbaijan ($123K), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Cyprus, with a 6% share.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value to Iraq stood at +2.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Azerbaijan (-0.1% per month) and Cyprus (+2.7% per month).
Export Prices by Country
In September 2023, the cream fresh price amounted to $3,108 per ton (FOB, Turkey), dropping by -2.7% against the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 24% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,863 per ton. From May 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,550 per ton), while the average price for exports to Syrian Arab Republic ($867 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
