Turkey Truck Export Price in March 2023
In March 2023, the truck price stood at $24,177 per unit (FOB, Turkey), approximately mirroring the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 when the average export price increased by 8.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $24,943 per unit in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to March 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($24,992 per unit), while the average price for exports to the United States ($10,493 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Turkey Truck Export Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. In March 2023, the product with the highest price was diesel or semi-diesel trucks of a g.v.w. over 20 tonnes ($217K per unit), while the average price for exports of diesel or semi-diesel trucks of a g.v.w. under 5 tonnes ($23,647 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: diesel or semi-diesel trucks of a g.v.w. from 5 to 20 tonnes (+2.3%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
Turkey Truck Exports
In March 2023, shipments abroad of trucks increased by 26% to 20K units, rising for the second consecutive month after three months of decline. Overall, exports, however, showed a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 with an increase of 45% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 25K units in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to March 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, truck exports skyrocketed to $477M (IndexBox estimates) in March 2023. In general, exports, however, recorded a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 with an increase of 41% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 563M units in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to March 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Turkey Truck Exports by Type
Diesel or semi-diesel trucks of a g.v.w. under 5 tonnes (19K units) was the largest type of truck exported from Turkey, accounting for a 98% share of total exports. It was followed by spark-ignition trucks of a g.v.w. under 5 tonnes (321 units), with a 1.6% share of total exports. Diesel or semi-diesel trucks of a g.v.w. from 5 to 20 tonnes (53 units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 0.3% share.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of diesel or semi-diesel trucks of a g.v.w. under 5 tonnes amounted to -1.3%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: spark-ignition trucks of a g.v.w. under 5 tonnes (-14.0% per month) and diesel or semi-diesel trucks of a g.v.w. from 5 to 20 tonnes (-5.0% per month).
In value terms, diesel or semi-diesel trucks of a g.v.w. under 5 tonnes ($457M) remains the largest type of truck exported from Turkey, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by spark-ignition trucks of a g.v.w. under 5 tonnes ($7.9M), with a 1.6% share of total exports. It was followed by diesel or semi-diesel trucks of a g.v.w. over 20 tonnes, with a 1.5% share.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of diesel or semi-diesel trucks of a g.v.w. under 5 tonnes was relatively modest. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: spark-ignition trucks of a g.v.w. under 5 tonnes (-13.9% per month) and diesel or semi-diesel trucks of a g.v.w. over 20 tonnes (-2.0% per month).
Turkey Truck Exports by Country
the UK (4.8K units), Italy (3K units) and France (2.9K units) were the main destinations of truck exports from Turkey, together comprising 54% of total exports. These countries were followed by Slovenia, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United States, which together accounted for a further 33%.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +11.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the UK ($116M), France ($72M) and Slovenia ($67M) appeared to be the largest markets for truck exported from Turkey worldwide, together accounting for 53% of total exports. Italy, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.
