The Bank of England's latest monetary policy report, released last week, underscores these challenges. The report indicates a bleak outlook, with reduced growth expectations and rising unemployment, prompting a cut in interest rates to 4.5%. Despite visible wage growth in the UK, concerns about job stability are curbing consumer willingness to spend, as noted by S&P Global Ratings' senior European economist, Marion Amiot.
