Umm Al Qura to List Shares on Saudi Exchange's Main Market

Umm Al Qura for Development and Construction, a key player behind the Masar Destination project in Makkah, has announced plans to proceed with an initial public offering (IPO) and list its shares on Saudi Arabia's Tadawul Main Market. Conditional approval for this listing was granted on December 8, 2024, as detailed in a recent report.

This move follows the Saudi Capital Market Authority's (CMA) approval on December 24, 2024, to offer 130,786,142 new shares, accounting for 9.09% of the company's post-capital increase stake. These shares are intended to support the ongoing development of the expansive Masar project.

Spread over 641,000 square meters, the Masar development aims to transform Makkah with a mix of hospitality, residential, and retail spaces. Upon completion, Masar will introduce more than 50,000 hospitality and residential units, totaling an estimated SAR100bn ($26.6bn) in development value.

The funds from the IPO will help finance land settlements, infrastructure development, and various project expenses, reinforcing Makkah's role in welcoming a growing number of pilgrims in line with Vision 2030's goals.

Chairman Abdullah Saleh Kamel expressed gratitude for the leadership's support and highlighted the IPO as a pivotal step in maximizing shareholder value. CEO Yasser Abdulaziz Abu Ateek echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the strategic importance of the IPO for urban and investment growth in Makkah.

The IPO is being managed with the assistance of Albilad Capital, GIB Capital, and AlRajhi Capital, among others, ensuring that the listing process is well supported by financial and advisory expertise.
