The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports decreased by -6.0% against 2021 indices. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2023, China (112K tons) constituted the largest lock and key supplier to the UK, with a 43% share of total imports. It was followed by base metal motor vehicle locks, with a 6.5% share.
Import Prices by Country
In 2023, the lock and key price stood at $8,056 per ton (CIF, United Kingdom), dropping by -5.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average import price increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $11,781 per ton. From 2021 to 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($23,763 per ton), while the price for Austria ($5,109 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
