United Kingdom Photographic Film Imports
For the fifth year in a row, the UK recorded decline in purchases abroad of photographic plates and film, photographic paper, paperboard and textiles and instant print film, sensitized, unexposed, which decreased by -15% to 5.6M square meters in 2023. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at 11M square meters in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, photographic film imports contracted to $136M (IndexBox estimates) in 2023. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $227M in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
